Event Description:
The 2009 boating season is drawing to a close, but the 2010 boating season will be here before you know it, and the Ohio Division of Watercraft is offering boater education courses now. Options include taking a classroom course, an online Internet course, at-home study course, or a proficiency exam. For boat operators who are 27 years old or younger (born on or after January 1, 1982), Ohio law requires completion of an approved boating education course before operating any boat over 10 horsepower. All boaters are encouraged to take an education course and successful completion may result in insurance discounts. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft, is offering the Ohio Boating Education Course. This course will cover the basics of safe seamanship including required equipment, operating laws, and rules of the road. The course will be offered at the Ohio Division of Watercraft, Cambridge Field Office, 1225 Woodlawn Ave., Cambridge, Ohio 43725. The course will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The cost of the course is $5.00. Pre–registration is required; please call the Ohio Division of Watercraft, Cambridge Field Office at (740) 439-4076 to register for the course.
